Stavros J. Perantonis ( https://users.iit.demokritos.gr/~sper/) holds of a B.S. degree in Physics from the Department of Physics, University of Athens, an M.Sc. degree in Computer Science from the Department of Computer Science, University of Liverpool and a D.Phil. degree in Computational Physics from the Department of Physics, University of Oxford. Since 1992 he has been with the Institute of Informatics and Telecommunications, National Centre for Scientific Research “Demokritos”, where he currently holds the positions of Director of Research, Head of the Computational Intelligence Laboratory and Chairman of the Scientific Council of the Institute. He has been an adjunct professor at the University of Texas at Arlington and at the University of Houston. Dr. Perantonis has managed or extensively participated in numerous EU or nationally funded projects, mainly involving research into computational intelligence methods, machine learning and multimodal information processing and retrieval. He is the author or co-author of over 200 papers in international journals and conference proceedings. His work is widely cited, with one of his publications earning the award for mostly cited papers in Pattern Recognition Journal in 2010. He is on the Stanford University list of top 2% scientists in his field of expertise based on citations to his work. He is currently teaching at the Master’s program “Data Science and Information Technologies” at the Department of Informatics and Telecommunications, National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. Dr. Perantonis has served in the Editorial Board of Signal Processing Journal. He has also served as Vice President of the Hellenic Artificial Intelligence Society (EETN).
