Welcome to our new DSIT Postgraduate Program!

The MSc Program “Data Science and Information Technologies (DSIT)” is by its very nature intensely interdisciplinary. The program focuses on subjects related to the management, processing, analysis, and software for massive or complex data, on which machine learning, Data science, and AI can be based, as well as on the development of mathematical models, algorithms, statistical analysis, image analysis methods, and tools for bioinformatics, computational and systems biology, and the Life Sciences, in the era of heterogeneous -omics big data, aiming to improve human health.

The DSIT Graduate Program is organized and administered by the prestigious Department of Informatics & Telecommunications of the National & Kapodistrian University of Athens (NKUA), in collaboration with the Biomedical Research Foundation of the Academy of Athens (BRFAA) and the ATHENA Research and Innovation Center. The courses are taught by Professors and Researchers of the above institutions with experience in the Program’s fields of study, by PhD scientists of other institutions in Greece and abroad, as well as by experienced industry specialists.

The DSIT program awards Masters of Science (M.Sc) degrees in two specializations:

  1. Big Data and Artificial Intelligence
  2. Bioinformatics – Biomedical Data Science

The overall program and all coursework are expected to evolve as in previous years respecting, of course, any health measures that may become necessary due to the pandemic.
All coursework and lectures are conducted in English. The goal of the program, now in its 5th year, is to provide top-quality graduate education in Informatics, Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Bioinformatics and Computational Biology. The two specializations have been designed according to international standards in order to meet the needs of the European academia and job market.
The program admits up to 20 students per specialization. The duration of studies is 3 academic semesters (90 ECTS), including one for the completion of an MSc Thesis (30 ECTS). The fees are € 900 / semester.
For further information please see our website http://dsit.di.uoa.gr/. The program is directed by Professor Dimitrios Gunopulos (NKUA).

Applications shall be submitted entirely online at http://pgs.di.uoa.gr/outer/index.php with recommendation letters sent directly by referees to the email: dsit_letters@di.uoa.gr. Applications must be submitted from May 14 to June 10th, 2024.

First degree (BSc) holders in Computer Science, Mathematics, Applied Math, Engineering, Biology, Medicine, and related subjects from Greek or foreign Universities are welcome to apply. Graduates of non-Greek institutions should consult the Hellenic NARIC organization (http://www.doatap.gr/en/) regarding degree recognition.
